About the presenters

Thomas Umstattd Jr. | @ThomasUmstattd (above, at left) has loved technology from an early age. He built his first website at the age of 13 and taught his first web design class at only 16 years old. He has been helping businesses use the web ever since. He now serves as the CEO of Umstattd Media, a social media and web development company based here in Austin.
Brad Mays | @BradMays (above, center) has been with Fleishman-Hillard since March 2006, and is a lead in the company's 100-person Digital Practice Group. He has close to 15 years online marketing and communications experience having worked with early stage start-ups to Fortune 10 companies. Brad's current primary responsibility is helping to develop and drive social media strategy and integration for large brands across multiple industries. This work includes ongoing reputation management working with key industry bloggers, establishing processes and procedures to enable long-term social strategy and generally pushing the boundaries of what’s considered possible for brands online. Brad is also part of FH’s social media team for GM, working with the automaker on its launch of the Volt and Cruze and its overall presence at SXSW.
Spike Jones | @SpikeJones (above, at right) was born in Dallas, Texas, and is a graduate of Baylor University with degrees in environmental studies and journalism. Before joining Fleishman-Hillard as a senior vice president of digital, he spent 10 years at Brains on Fire. Spike's work there included business development and strategic development – from insight to creative execution – of identity projects and word-of-mouth movements/social media for companies including BMW, Rawlings Sporting Goods, Best Buy, Dagger Kayaks, Don Pablo’s Mexican Restaurants, Fiskars Brands, Yakima, Perception Kayaks, and Rage Against the Haze (South Carolina’s youth-led anti-tobacco movement). At Fleishman-Hillard, Mr. Jones works on such brands as Chevrolet Texas, AT&T, and USAA.
